MIAMI (WFLA) ̵
1; Zoo Miami flock of 25 Caribbean flamingos was rounded off in its show so that they could receive their annual wellness surveys on Thursday.
Zoo personnel used a long grid to correlate the flock into a small area where they could be individually separated for their exams.
The Animal Health Group established a mobile clinic in a holding area and one after another, each animal was taken in for veterinary checks.
Each flamingo was weighed and had a blood sample taken.
The overall body condition of each animal was controlled, with particular attention to the feet, which may be susceptible to certain problems under the zoo.
All Flamingos were vaccinated against West Nile Virus.
All animals except a 31-year-old man passed their physics and returned to the exhibition following the procedure.
The male was taken to the zoo’s animal hospital for respiratory problems.
He resides in the clinic while veterinarians evaluate their condition.
