On October 16, YouTube experienced an interruption that affected all its users, including YouTube Music and YouTube TV customers. Although the sites were not long before they were restored, Google offered a one-week service credit for YouTube TV customers affected. A new support page has been created where customers can redeem their credits.
YouTube TV subscribers have received an email from YouTube for the break that took place earlier this week. “We love our TV as much as you do, and our goal is to make sure you have access to your events and show – when and how you want”, read the email.
Customers who were subscribers on October 16 can now visit this Google support page and enter their email address to redeem a free service week. The user must enter the email address associated with his YouTube TV account to get the credit. Likewise, the redemption period is only available until October 24th.
YouTube had confirmed the outbreak of its Team YouTube Twitter account, saying it was working to restore the service. It was only a few minutes later when the service published another tweet that announced that YouTube was back online, but no explanation for the downtime was given.
