Yes Morant and Murray State are on their way to the NCAA tournament

Murray State Racers became the first team to beat their ticket to the national tournament on Saturday thanks to the Yes Morant-do-all-player who, unlike in January, may have heard of. The eighth leading scorer in the nation beat 36 points, seized seven boards and received two blocks in his team 77-65 victory over Belmont to win the Ohio Valley Conference Championship. A March Madness berth means that in a couple of weeks, a nationwide audience will see this intriguing feeling and his incredibly evil drums for the first time. The grunt that you heard the transmitter instinctively doing after Morant's slam is exactly the feeling that everyone gets to see this high-flyer for the first time. After calculating only half of their points during the season, Morant has exploded on the college's hops scene as a future that seems like he can create buckets at will – he has the 16th best offensive college basketball grade, by KenPom – through its own scotch (54.7% eFG) and his passes (the nation's leading 10.0 apg). That dunk wasn't even Morant's best highlight of the game, in my opinion. The best thing he did was get a ball in the game's dying game and try to lean on the back to seal the game with authority. Unfortunately, he told the jump and missed the dunk. But the intention to score an unnecessary bucket was in the air and infected his teammate who rebounded the ball. Instead of holding on to it and clocking…

The grunt that you heard the transmitter instinctively doing after Morant’s slam is exactly the feeling that everyone gets to see this high-flyer for the first time. After calculating only half of their points during the season, Morant has exploded on the college’s hops scene as a future that seems like he can create buckets at will – he has the 16th best offensive college basketball grade, by KenPom – through its own scotch (54.7% eFG) and his passes (the nation’s leading 10.0 apg).

That dunk wasn’t even Morant’s best highlight of the game, in my opinion. The best thing he did was get a ball in the game’s dying game and try to lean on the back to seal the game with authority. Unfortunately, he told the jump and missed the dunk. But the intention to score an unnecessary bucket was in the air and infected his teammate who rebounded the ball. Instead of holding on to it and clocking out of the clock, Morant’s teammate decided to do some late state-padding and did a lay-out. It is important to note that Murray State was up 10 at this point in the game.

If for some reason you can’t catch Morant and Murray State in the tournament, you’ll likely have a chance to at least catch sophomore guard a few months later on an NBA list. ESPN constructor Mike Schmitz said he believes Morant “has jumped RJ Barrett as the second best prospect in the draft behind Zion Williamson.”

While some may see it as a bit of a stretch, Morant is at least a top-3 candidate proposal. Even on a night where the deviation on his statue came in the assists column, he found a way to impress scouts who did not even feel the need to see their performance in the conference championship. His speed, court vision and scoring talents put him in similar areas as players like Aaron Fox or John Wall, without the blue blood hypertension. If these compositions even come close to true, he is the best prospect of getting out of school with a large margin, as the school’s latest draft history shows.

But again, if you want to skip all that uncertainty, you can only watch him in the national tournament.
