The Toe Show is over.

The Yankees announced that they appointed Ronald Torreyes for assignment on Monday to make room on the 40-man roster for right-handed Parker Bridwell, who claimed that they waived from the Angels. [19659002] The 27-year-old Bridwell had a solid 2017 season with Los Angeles, but had a rough year last season. He made just one start for the Angels when he gave up six runs in 1 2/3 innings on April 6. Bridwell also made four relief appearances in September. He was bothered by an elbow injury that put him on the disabled list and he was appointed for assignment last week.

He showed promise in 2017, as Bridwell pitched in 21 games for the Angels – 20 starts &#821

Torreyes appeared in just 41 games last season with the Yankees. The light-hitting, but sure-handed utility was served as one of the Yankees’ primary backups in 2017, when he had a .689 OPS in 336 plate appearances. He spent all of 2016 and 2017 in the majors.

Bridwell figures to give the Yankees another option either in the bullpen or as rotation depth. James Paxton, Luis Severino, Masahiro Tanaka and CC Sabathia have spots locked down and general manager Brian Cashman wants to acquire another high-end starting pitcher, but the Yankees could use more arms in the organization as potential fill-ins.
