KIEL, Wis. – A Wisconsin man has been sentenced to federal prison to place “foreign objects” in Johnsonville crossroads.
According to the officials, the former Johnsonville Sausage staff Jonathan Tilman Lane was caught on video placing various items inside sausage, including cigarette paper and copper wire.
Lane position was in the final phase of the sausage processing line before packaging and his actions risked consumer contamination. Officials say Johnsonville closed the sausage operation and threw away any product that could have been affected.
“The significant meaning introduced here demonstrates that any attempt to manipulate consumer products will be taken seriously,” said US lawyer Matthew D. Krueger. “We ask Johnsonville Sausage, LLC and the United States Department of Agriculture for their effective measures to prevent damage and investigate this issue.”
Lane was sentenced to 54 months in federal prison followed by 3 years of supervised release. He was also fining $ 42,035.
