Windy conditions cause widespread power outages in northeastern Ohio

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Power outages have been reported across Northeast Ohio on Sunday due to strong whiskers. The National Weather Service in Cleveland issued a High Wind Warning which comes into force by 7:00 am on Monday. Winds come from the southwest at 25 to 35 mph, with winds up to 65 mph. Thousands of FirstEnergy customers in Cuyahoga, Lake, Lorain, Medina and Summit counties are without power from 17:40 [19659002] Cuyahoga County has the most affected customers, with about 16,700 reported failures. Cleveland Heights, Euclid and Solon each year have more than 1 ,000 reported failures, according to FirstEnergy's outage site. Several more communities have hundreds of customers without power. Frequency than 500 reported interruptions remain disconnected in Lake County on Sunday evening. Elyria and North Ridgeville have the bulk of power outages in Lorain County with approximately 4,600 customers out of the roughly 6,000 interruptions in the county. In Medina County, there are still about 5,900 arrests. about 3,000 of them are in the Medina. Summit County's reported interruptions have fluctuated but currently shows approximately 15,300 customers without power. The interrupt service shows more than 5,800 Akron customers without power and about 3,700 without electricity in Stow. Cleveland Public Power has also announced that it has reported interruptions on both the east and west sides of the city.
