UNC (re-) introduces Mack Brown as
“This is a great day for Carolina,” says Chancellor Carol L. Folt. “It’s a big day for Carolina,” said Chancellor Carol L. Folt. . “We welcome back a coach who built a winning football program during his first appointment at Chapel Hill – one that reflected values, culture and dedication to the excellence we strive for in everything we do at this university.”
Brown joined UNC after three seasons (11-21) in Tulane and with a 6-5 season as head coach at Appalachian State on his resume.
After two 1 winter seasons he turned Tar Heels around, leading them to eight winning seasons, including three with 10 wins and six straight bowl games.
He left North Carolina for the University of Texas, where he allowed Longhorns to 15 bowl games in the 16th and 2005 championships.
He has recently worked for ESPN as an analyst.
“Mack Brown has proven record to build good team, and he not only develops football players – he also develops people with a strong character,” says Director of Athletics Bubba Cunningham.
Brown expressed his enthusiasm for returning to the sidelines .
“The best part of coaching is the players – build relationships, build trust and finally see them create success on and off the field,” he said. “We can not wait to meet our current student athletes and reconnect with friends, alumni and other Tar Heel coaches.”
