Two passengers contract brass from Santa Cruz County resident in flight to SFO

Three Californian residents, including one from San Francisco, have contrasted measles, but it is unlikely that the highly contagious disease will spread further, health care officials said Wednesday. Two of the disease residents were exposed to the disease on an international flight to San Francisco last month by the third person, a Santa Cruz County resident who had fetched measles in another country. It was not clear which country was or if the Santa Cruz County resident knew about the disease. San Francisco Department of Health officials said no one but San Francisco resident and the other, from Santa Clara County, on that flight had contracted the disease. The measles case in San Francisco is believed to be the first since 2013. Health officials said this current case was an adult, but they did not reveal whether the other two from the plane were adults or children.

“The public has a very low risk of measles as a result of these cases,” says Veronica Vien, spokesman for the San Francisco Department of Health.

In 2018, seven people were infected in an outbreak that started in Santa Clara County. It almost completely spread among families who had chosen not to vaccinate their children, the public health authorities said last week.
