The White House on Sunday evening had a definite spooky atmosphere, like President Trump and the first lady Melania Trump welcomed children of military families for tricks or treatment at South Lawn.
A military band played themes from “The Addams Family”, “Harry Potter” and “Bewitched” as the first couple greeted a stream of costumed children. Forget state visit – The president shook his hands with some highly appreciated characters, including Captain America, a princess and several dinosaurs.
The trumpets (which were not in costumes) continued the annual tradition of festive decor – cornstalks wound around the marble columns that led to the Truman balcony, created train machines an incredible mood and the area in front of South Portico seemed to sprout a pumpkin patch. “Beautifully!” The president could be heard exclaiming when he admired the children’s finery.
