Former Impact X Division Champion Trevor Lee spoke recently with Sports Illustrated and expressed interest in writing with WWE or New Japan Pro Wrestling.
“I would love to go to WWE or New Japan,” Lee said. “I have done a lot in the United States in the case of large independent companies, I have broken in Mexico, Canada, England and India, but I would love to go to Japan.”
As we have noted, 25-year-old Lee is set to go into free agency after having recently separated the way with Impact. His contract expires on 31 December. It has been reported that WWE has an interest in signing Lee and there are speculation that Lee will be notified of the new WWE Performance Center Class in January.
Lee has had many highly-rated matches on the Indians, including matches in the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla with Kevin Owens, The Young Bucks, Cody Rhodes, WWE NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa and others. Lee said that some of his best games have not watched TV but he is hungry to change it.
“The best work I’ve ever done in my life has never been on TV,” Lee said. “My TV work has been to help the product, but beyond that’s where you see the real Trevor Lee.”
Lee father, late Tracy Caddell, founded the foundations of the OMEGA Championship Wrestling campaign in 1
997 with Matt Hardy. OMEGA helped the launch of The Hardys, Shane Helms and others. Lee noted that he has practiced suicide dives with Jeff Hardy since 4 years. The campaign helped him fall in love with pro wrestling and helped him get through a hard time. Lee was very close with his father and kept him close in his heart as he prepares for next year 2019. He said WWE is the dream.
“I’m not kidding my father’s dreams, but I want to do something for him,” Lee said. “And that’s also for me, I finally want to go to WWE, it’s the dream. It’s always something my dad really wanted for me.” He was actually an extra first time Hardy Boyz won the tagger titles in Fayetteville. He was an extra in the segment before that, the one with APA. My dad was very in love with the business. “
Lee said he is willing to try something on the biggest stage of all of them. He said he would not care to break the WWE 205 Live scene but he thinks he can still compete with the best guys like Finn Balor and WWE Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins.
