Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will soon target the nation in what may be the official announcement that Israel will make an early choice.
Earlier on Sunday, sources near Netanyahu said he intends to maintain the defense portfolio and appoint a foreign minister in the coming days, while his important coalition partner Habayit Hayehudi insists Netanyahu provides education minister Naftali Bennett the defense portfolio.
Habayit Hayehudi, led by Bennett, replied that Netanyahu’s appointment of Foreign Minister “does not matter anyway” and that immediate elections must be held if Bennett is not left in the defense portfolio.

Habayit Hayehudi accused the government, on the right hand side, of acting as a leftist government.
“Unless the Defense Minister’s portfolio is given to Bennett to save Israel from the serious security crisis it exists, there is no sense that a left government exists. The public is tired of voting right and left,” said the party.
Outgoing Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman resigned last week over the ceasefire in Gaza and fired the election for the election season. Lieberman’s departure left Netanyahu with a rakhyvla majority of 61 Knesset seats. Habayit Hayehudi threatened shortly after Lieberman’s resignation that if Netanyahu does not appoint Bennett as Defense Minister, the party will leave the coalition.
Netanyahu meets with Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon, Head of the Kulanu Party, in a final dump to avoid early elections. The prime minister interrupted his weekly meeting with the coalition party head to try to prevent the government’s dissolution and delay the forthcoming early elections. Likud minister’s forum was also discussed. The cupcake was held as planned.
A leading Likud official told Haaretz that Netanyahu’s decision to appoint a foreign minister was primarily technical by nature and was the result of concern that the Supreme Court would not allow Netanyahu to serve as both foreign minister and defense minister at the same time as prime minister. The appointment of a foreign minister is also relevant if elections are called and the current government becomes a transitional government, said the source, because ministers can not be appointed when it becomes a transitional government during the election.

According to the leading Likud source, the workforce of Netanyahu’s associated companies is that, unless there are unexpected developments from the Prime Minister’s meeting with Kahlon, the Knesset election will be moved from November next year, which is the latest that they can be held.
Earlier on Sunday, Netanyahu told the Cabinet that in a period of unstable security early elections are the wrong flight.
“In such a sensitive period of security, it is unnecessary and wrong to go to elections. We recall what happened when sources from the coalition caused the government’s dissolution in 1992 and 1999, leading to the accident in Oslo and the other Intifadas disaster. We must do all we can to prevent these mistakes being repeated, “he says.
Kahlon said Saturday in an interview to Israel Television News Company that, unless Netanyahu “pulls a rabbit from a hat,” he will vote to resolve the parliament Wednesday. Education Minister Naftali Bennett also expressed support for an early election.
Netanyahu spokesman Jonathan Urich tweeted Sunday that “Ministers Kahlon and Bennett can prevent government dissolution. We can really prevent unnecessary elections right now and allow the government to continue for many months.” According to Urich, Sunday is the last chance to prevent the government’s dissolution.
A Netanyahu aide rejected Bennett calling for election, urges the education minister to “be responsible and not help overthrow the government that could earn another year.”
In his meeting on Thursday, Kahlon Netanyahu told the right citizen and the Israeli economy to make a call as soon as possible. He said that the current political situation does not allow the necessary economic stability, and therefore it is the responsibility to form a new, strong and stable government. Kahlon emphasized that he is willing to coordinate the move with other coalition partners.
Interior Minister Arye Dery also urged Thursday to elect “as soon as possible, for the country”.
