Google has confirmed that Android P will include gesture navigation on Android P, and you have not even noticed . Just a few weeks after the great G decide to release the second preliminary edition of the operating system that will be released in late summer, from the blog for Android developers has shared information about certain security-level innovations that we will see in the next version. However, we have overlooked a little detail.
And is that thanks to the capture that accompanies the text, which at the time of publishing this article has already been modified, we see a new virtual navigation bar , that dispenses with the icons to which we are accustomed, and accommodates a new system that is quite familiar to us.
Several weeks ago, the first clues were already appearing that suggested the possibility that Android P, in its second edition for developers, premiere a new gesture navigation system , which would replace the navigation buttons on the screen to adapt to new times and devices , with increasingly large screens and elongated formats.
Now, as we see in the photograph that heads this article, coming from Google itself, we see that gestures navigation is getting closer to reality . The navigation bar now houses a single elongated central button in horizontal format -very similar to the system that uses the iPhone X, why deny it-, which would serve to perform different gestures such as returning to the home screen or opening the multitasking menu.
For some reason, however, a button appears on the image behind conventional, which according to indicate the first speculations , would appear and disappear automatically depending on the situation . In the case of the capture, it is possible that it is visible since a dialog box appears on the screen about the application itself.
Another reliable source, which in the past has already given some clues about the future of certain Google products, has confirmed through Google Plus that, indeed, the second preview for Android developers will debut gesture navigation. According to him, this will be the operation of Android once this navigation system is incorporated :
To go back , will have to slide from the left of the screen. The first evidence of this change was seen in the new animation of Android P when going “back”.
To access the multitasking menu , it will be necessary to slide up from the lower right edge of the terminal, where the specific button for this function is currently located.
Although the evidence is increasingly evident -the capture of Google leaves no doubt-, we still have to wait a few weeks until we know all the details about this new system. It will be during the Google I / O 2018 , held in Mountain View between November 8 and 10, when all our doubts will be finally cleared.
