One of the great unknowns of 2018, at least until the month of September, is knowing the characteristics of the iPhone X 2018, as well as the two versions that will accompany it, among which are the iPhone X Plus, a device that is giving place to all kinds of theories. So far all reports point to the iPhone X 2018 repeating 5.8-inch screen, while there will be a 6.1-inch economical version and a 6.5-inch plus version.
Well, we have discovered what the resolution will be in points (not pixels) of the future iPhone X Plus , and that gives us a clue as to what the Screen resolution .
Looking at the statistics of use of iOS 12, you can discover that Apple has been testing its new operating system since February, but the most interesting is not that, but if you take a look at the list of devices used to test iOS 12, can see a mysterious terminal with a resolution of 414 x 896 points.
While the other devices on the list can be clearly identified as the iPhone X, iPhone 7/7 Plus or iPhone 8/8 Plus among others, the previous device does not correspond to anything that Apple has submitted to date (number 11) ):
Now we take those resolutions in points and compare them with Apple’s official documentation of their devices already released to the market, and we can verify that both the iPhone 8 Plus and the iPhone 7 Plus have the same resolution of 414 x 736 points (1080 x 1920 in pixels).
This data is interesting because the device that supposedly corresponds to the iPhone X Plus, would integrate the same number of points in the width of your screen than the previous Plus versions, that is: 414 points
On the other hand we look at the iPhone 8 and iPhone X, which also share the same width in points (375), but then the iPhone X has a higher height as is logical (812 points).
So, it seems that Apple would follow the same trend with the iPhone X Plus, and therefore, the screen size of the iPhone X Plus will be identical in width to that of the iPhone 8 Plus, but with a height quite older 896 points.
In summary, The size of the iPhone X Plus screen will have the same width exactly that the iPhone 8 Plus , but with a more panoramic format, following the same relationship between iPhone 8 and iPhone X. In this photo we can get an idea of what the iPhone X Plus panel would look like.
All this theory makes quite good sense if we take into account that the aspect ratio of the iPhone X is 2.165 (19.5: 9/812 divided by 375), because when we divide 896 by 414, we get exactly the same proportion. That is, the iPhone X Plus will be completely proportional to the current iPhone X .
But these statistics not only allow us to get an idea of what the shape and size of the iPhone X Plus screen will be like, but also of its resolution , although here they fit two posibilities .
The first one is that Apple uses the same pixel / dot scale as in the current iPhone X, so multiply by 3 the points to get a panel of 1242 x 2688 pixels.
But Apple could also apply a lower multiplier used in previous versions Plus, and that is 2,608, which would give us a somewhat lower resolution of approximately 1080 x 2336 pixels.
These figures fit quite well with the diagonal of 6.5 inches we used to date, so we know almost certainly what the size of the iPhone X Plus screen will be in addition to its resolution.
