Grammys have long been criticized by the hip hop group. Rappers and their fans feel that Grammy does not show the appropriate amount of love for the most lucrative musical genres in the nation. While unobtrusive albums like J. Cole’s KOD may have been stumble this year, Grammys made a big improvement in their choice. Of the eight nominees for this year’s record, for example, four rap songs were selected. A fifth song, “I Like It” by Cardi B, Bad Bunny & J Balvin, illustrates the surplus of talented Latin artists.
The eight albums of this year’s Album List are six hip hop or R & B. Drake’s Scorpion Black Panther Soundtrack, Janelle Mones Dirty Computer, Cardi Bs Invasion of Privacy HER’s self-titled album, and Post Malone’s Beerbong and Bentleys all cut out. While we can sit and argue that some rap albums should have taken place for others, but the fact that Grammy included more hip-based actions than any other genre in its two biggest categories is progress.
The Recording Academy Award Prize Freimuth spoke with XXL and claim that they have worked to listen to the hiphop group. “We’ve really listened to society with these problems,” Freimuth said. “We’ve really been doing a lot of proactive outlook for the hip hop group in recent years, really.”
“It will not be complete, 100 percent, 180 degrees turn over overnight,” he continues. “At the same time, more and more of the really important players in that community have begun embracing what we do and joining us as members of our committees. Voting – which is extremely important, of course, and I” I think our nominations reflect it more and more. “
