Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman sent at least 11 messages to his adviser who monitored the efforts to kill Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi, around the time that Khashoggi killed, according to a classified CIA report obtained by The Wall Street Journal.

According to the extract of the report reported by the newspaper, the Crown Prince told employees in August 2017, “We may be able to attract [Khashoggi] outside Saudi Arabia and make arrangements” if the Crown Prince could not convince the dissident Saudi journalist, who lived in Virginia, to return to Saudi Arabia .

The newspaper noted that it was unclear if the comments came directly from the Crown Prince or from someone describing his communication.

The report states that the communication “seems to spoil the Saudi operation launched against Khashoggi” according to the newspaper.

Another statement says that the CIA has “medium to high confidence” that Crown Prince Mohammed “personally targeted” Khashoggi and “probably ordered his death.”

“To be clear, we miss direct reporting of the Crown Prince who issued a death order,” according to the extracts reported by the newspaper.

The current adviser Saud al-Qahtani was sanctioned by the White House last month for his involvement in Khashoggi’s death.

The Senate on Wednesday made a resolution that would end US military support to the Saudi-led led campaign in Jemen Civil War and issue a penalty against Trump after the White House opposed the bill. The resolution went on even as the administration promised to stand at Saudi Arabia after globally boasting the killing of Khashoggi.

Khashoggi was killed October 2 after entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul to receive marriage documents for his upcoming wedding. [1
