Tesla's new Superchargers add up to 1000 miles per hour

With cars such as Jaguar I-Pace Audi E-Tron and Nissan Leaf Plus turning on the market, electric car warriors flow into a large, large road. Because the cars will only get better, now it is up to chargers to continue. Tesla has done its part by releasing Wednesday the first of what it calls the V3 Supercharging, a 250 kilowatt option using a new, liquid-cooled cable to jam up to 1,000 miles per hour distance to a Model 3 . In more practical terms, Tesla says that this will add up to 75 miles of reach in just 5 minutes, more than enough for an average day commute in less time than it would cause you to enter and use the toilet. This will only be available on model 3 at the moment, but Tesla promises both models S and X will receive software updates to enable this charge level. And we will continue to guess that Model Y will support this rate out of the box when it drops, but we have to wait until next week to find out for sure. Many model 3 owners have suffered inconsistent charging rates based on battery temperature. Now, says Tesla, their cars will adjust the temperature of the battery when the car is approaching Supercharger to ensure optimum power flow.

But since Tesla’s Fremont is the CA Supercharger the only such equipped charging station in the United States so far, chances are that the batteries are already rolling in quite a moderate time.

How does 250 kW compare to the competition? Well, the growing, VW-backed Electrify America network is already equipped with 350 kW capable chargers enough for a theoretical 185 miles in 9 minutes – but there are currently no suitable cars in the market. Eventually, it will be about the perfect time to run in and debt buy a milkshake and big French fries. Yes, EV ownership should be good news for the planet, but no one ever said it would be good for your waist.
