In the United States, the fast food chain is suitable for families and people on the go, but as it expands across Europe, it is serving more and more thousands of people who want to sit and drink a beer over burritos and churros.
This week, Taco Bell moved back to the London market after about two decades, and opened four new places as part of a wider European expansion.
The food tastes the same as in the United States, but there are many design differences that you notice in London’s places: from the open kitchen to the trendy wallpaper with colorful murals and long tables with bar stools to eat in large groups.
The food will not go together as it says.
“In the United States, so many customers come to us via the device by getting the food to go, so it has to be folded to be hot,” explains Taco Bell’s European Director General, Jorge Torres. “Europe’s consumers are much more likely to sit down to eat their food on site. So we serve open plates, which we have also discovered means more image sharing on social media.”
The chain opened seats in London in the late 1
980s, but in the 1990s, British “no quiero Taco Bell” said they were closed.
So why return now?
“Mexican food is very high profile in Europe now,” says Torres. “And social media has given us a better way to measure the demand for Taco Bell is very there.”
The arrival of Chipotle in Britain increased the profile of Mexican-inspired chains, but it also means that Taco Bell has a lot of competition from established local competitors, such as Tortilla and Wahaca restaurants.
Taco Bell hopes that cheap pricing sets its divorce. There is a Cravers menu, and “Taco Tuesdays” will contain a taco and beer for just £ 2 ($ 2.50).
The biggest challenge Taco Bell faces in Britain are Brexit.
“It is really all of the uncertainty surrounding Brexit, “said Torres. “We import many ingredients from continental Europe and our profits are finally listed in dollars, so the swinging value of the pound is a challenge.”
But not a challenge to stop Taco Bell from investing in London.
Yum! Trademarks that own KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell believe that in order to continue expanding, they need a higher profile in the English capital.
There are 7000 Taco Bells worldwide, with the company aiming at 9000 before 2022.
In Europe, Spain has the most Taco Bells with 50 seats and by the end of 2018. Britain. is set to have thirty.
