Summer At Chanel Haute Couture Is Anything But Whimsical. See The MOJEH Edit.

Haute Couture is often enjoyed for its princess-like status, featuring heavily embellished gowns, mountainous fabrics and sugary soft colour schemes. But for its spring summer 18 collection, Chanel Haute Couture takes a headier approach with a collection that considers functional fashion and strength over slushy.

Long tweed dresses are presented in deep pinks and purples, worn with thick, black leather gloves. In another look, a pea shaped coat carries a thick, masculine collar and deep shoulder pads. Beautifully powerful.

Slightly more feminine options come in the form of a black lace gown with tiered frills falling below the waist, and a soft pink satin dress with bow detailing on the shoulder. Both are styled with pointed chelsea boots for an edge of androgyny.

Old couture meets new-world artistry in a collision of conventional codes. Think toughly-tailored tweeds, structured satin gowns and a colour palette not for the faint-hearted.
