Google Hangouts messaging platform has been a hot topic in recent days. Initially, a new report was hanging out to Google to give Hangouts the shoulder by 2020, but a director participating in the project on Google claims that no such date was determined and a migration is scheduled to transition Hangouts (as consumers know it anyway) in Meet / chat. Whatever happens, it seems that Hangouts will change in the future. With that in mind, we’re curious: how many of our readers are still using Google Hangouts?
Try as I may, I can not give it up. Too many of the people I personally and professionally switch to the platform years ago. But it was back in the SMS-integrated days when all we wanted was a way to fly using Facebook products in our search for a platform-agnostic iMessage clone. Unfortunately, Google removed the uncertainty sms feature just before users pushed Allo. Of course it went well. And in recent years, the consumer-turned version of Hangouts has been effective in life support.
Even though I continue to be addicted to it, I’m sure many of our readers have been giving up Hangouts for a long time ̵
1; probably leaving when SMS integration was lost. There is a whole host of alternative services out there to replace it to varying degrees like Telegram, Skype, Facebook Messenger, Whatsapp, Viber and Snapchat. Still only basic, old SMS can work for messages in a pinch.
So, have you moved to something else, or are you still using Hangouts?
