Today Square Enix was hosting a live stream debited as a “Special Program” with exciting news about forthcoming Final Fantasy XV content. But in an incredible plot twist that hosted the series itself, the news proved to be undeniably terrible: almost all DLC has been interrupted and game director Hajime Tabata has left the company completely.
Square Enix had planned to continue The Final Flow of Final Fantasy XV featured throughout 2019 with four DLC episodes centered on the characters Ardyn, Aranea, Lunafreya and Noctis. Instead, only the Ardyn episode will be released ̵
1; the remaining three have been abandoned. There will be a collaborative event with Final Fantasy XIV next month, and Comrades multiplayer mode will also be spinning into a standalone game for PS4 and Xbox One.
Tabata’s departure is particularly surprising for his recent establishment and control of a new studio in Square Enix, Luminous Productions. Final Fantasy XV went through a famous and prolonged development and Tabata is largely credited with turning the project after taking over the role played by Tetsuya Nomura in 2014. The game was a critical and commercial success and has continued to be updated with new features, content and versions.
“As for my next endeavors and near future, I have a project that I really want to strengthen as my next challenge after FFXV ” Tabata said the power. “For this reason, I decided to leave my current position and start my own business to reach my goal. Since the production of Episode Ardyn continues and Luminous Productions is working on new projects, I felt it was time for me to hand over the burner to next-generation talented and trusted colleagues and believe that they will create something amazing. “
