Ed Sheeran loses its peak after three consecutive years.

Despite ongoing competition from Apple Music, Tidal, Google Play and the like, vinyl finds Spotify continues to be the undisputed king of music streams

The Swedish born app’s annual review survey has fallen to 2018 and again we give insight into what our little country comes down to.

The most surprising recording is that Aussies are streaming much more country music than ever before, skyrocketing us the list of the third largest yeehaw fans in the world, just behind the US and Canada. While there are no further details in the report of how or why this happened, I think we can certainly criticize this up to the effect of a certain Miss Kylie Minogue.

“Golden” knulla beaten, fight me.

Hip-hop and rap once again dominated our streams but with three of the five most streamed artists of the year, Drake, Post Malone and XXXTENTACION (ugh gross), all of which come from the genres experiencing a new peak thanks to the great influence of so-called Soundcloud rappers.

Canadian hip-hop star Drake was the most streamlined artist of Aussies this year, finishing Ed Sheeran’s three-year race at the top, and also took out bouncing rights for most streamed songs with “God’s Plan.” Post Malone grabbed the gong of the most streamed album with Beerbongs & Bentleys undoubtedly appealing to our deep seated for binge drinks and cars.

This year, unfortunately, for many female-fronted melodies did not appear in Spotify’s lists. When the blocks are out of the statistics, Ariana, Taylor and Dua Lipa are proud and placed as Australia’s most streamlined female artists with Sia, Julia Stone and Amy Shark the three three local streaming dams.

Other subscriptions from the review see 5 seconds of summer retaining a healthy premise in our country’s headphones, our mums and dads still flatter completely Fleetwood Mac on a regular basis and (how is it) the most streamlined release from Spotify itself was a live recording of daughter of the man who made the TV series Scrubs . Yes, that’s a real statistic.
