The Illinois Department of Public Health is now working to find a possible source of the last two groups of Legionnaire’s disease. Officials said the cases are not linked.
A Walmart spokesman confirmed Monday that public health personnel found Legionella bacteria in a sprinkler nozzle at their Johnsburg store, making it a possible source of the three cases in Lake and McHenry Counties – one of clusters.
The second cluster was reported at the Warren Barr South Loop nursing home on Chicago’s southern side.
The regional director of the hospital said there was a suspected case of legionaries and tests on their water systems proved to be negative for bacteria.
In an Illinois Public Health Department pronounced released on Friday, two residents in the nursing home were involved in that cluster.
