It should not be a surprise to anyone that the Circa Resort & Casino sports book – the newly named integrated facility coming to central Las Vegas – will be a great place.
The construction is expected to begin next month for the first from-the-ground-up downtown resort for decades. The property’s doors are scheduled to open in December 2020. The cost of the project has not been revealed.
The name was unveiled Thursday at the Downtown Las Vegas Event Center after Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman’s City State address.
For Derek and Greg Stevens, Detroiters, who with passion followed the tigers, lions, pistons and red wings for many years and owns the center’s D Las Vegas and Golden Gate properties, it was important that the sports book was a Circa centerpiece. [1
9659002] “I still remember the very first day I entered the Caesars Palace sports book and I had the wow moment in my mind,” said Derek Stevens as he described his planned three-story Circa book.
“Then when I entered the Las Vegas Hilton (now Westgate) in 1986 and saw their Superbook … another wow moment,” he said. “I think what we are trying to create is the scenario where someone who is a sports fan will come over and check this out.”
Stevens promises to have the biggest sports book in Las Vegas “with the biggest screen in sports book history.” He wants to be able to show all the great games being broadcast.
The brothers recently announced a partnership that gives them 10 percent ownership of the Vegas Stats and Information Network, with the Raiders radio transmitter and review journalist colonist Brent Musberger, and deploying their own broadcast studio to Circa. It will enable players to have an in-depth analysis of an expert group, including broadcasters, professionals and athletes.
But sport is not the only thing that will dazzle to Circa.
The 1.25-million-square-foot property and its 777-room hotel will be the tallest hotel north of the strip of about 44 stories. Stevens said the top floor will be at level 60, but “a few floors have been omitted.”
The resort is built on a city block that once contained the Las Vegas Club, Mermaids and Girls of Glitter Gulch topless club, across the main street from the Plaza.
The property will have the longest outdoor bar on the Fremont Street Experience, five restaurants – he said the names and concepts would be revealed later – and a two-level casino that will have street-level records and a bridge connecting to a nine floors parking garage over the main street.
The only restaurant idea Stevens releases is a plan for an underground steakhouse.
Stevens said a shared casino is a design challenge for some properties, but he has implemented one on D Las Vegas, which inherited the design at Fitzgeralds when he and his brother bought the.
The parking lot of 1 201-room garage, called “Garage Mahal” will be a special feature in itself, designed specifically for the convenience of drivers and their customer pickups and shutdowns in mind.
The resort is defined by a design by Steelman Partners, with an accented backlit roof line and a multi-tiered pool amphitheater. The six tiered pools will get a picture of a 125-foot high resolution screen for pool events and sports watch parties using party concepts that the brothers learned from holding events at the Downtown Las Vegas Event Center that they own.
A memorable Photo Op is planned near the hotel reservation.
Vegas Vickie, the kicking cowgirl who once lay high above the Fremont Street Experience, will be an important design feature in the lobby.
Stevens said that Circa will be suite-heavy, as most central properties do not have enough suites to meet demand. He also said that the room product will be flexible enough to allow guests to choose a single Enova king bed or two queens on request.
Stevens does not expect to be lost for foot traffic on the property. 18 Fremont St. Address is available for the Fremont Street Experience, which attracts 24 million visitors annually.
He said the Circa name is a pleasure to the great eras of the past, and the resort will deliver a new experience built on Original Old School Vegas hospitality. He hopes to blend modern luxury and cutting-edge technology with service that honors the city’s golden ages – around 1940, about 1980 and now about 2020.
Tree Builders as been employed as construction manager and McCarthy Building Companies Inc. – the team that cooperates in the construction of the Las Vegas stadium at 65,000 locations – is the general contractor.
Stevens said he has been assured by McCarthy that his list of workers and subcontractors will be ready to keep the project moving at a time when there are several major projects under construction in southern Nevada.
“I think this is good to see that these big projects come together, between the Raiders stadium, Resorts World and Circa, I think there is so much demand demand in this city and there is so much demand demand around about in the country for people to come back to Las Vegas, “says Stevens.” I think it’s just amazing that we have some good new projects coming to Las Vegas and more reasons why people will visit us. “ Contact Richard N.
