Simple and effective self-care tips to ease the pain of Vulvodynia :

Vulvodynia is chronic pain. It occurs around the opening of the vagina in the area of your vulva  (the external female genitals). Till, the exact cause of this pain is unknown but can be triggered by nerve injury, abnormal cell responses, genetic factors, infections, allergies, irritation, hormonal changes, antibiotics or muscle spasms. But there’s plenty you can do to ease the symptoms. Use these self-care tips to control the pain :

1. Warm Compress :

Warm compress improves blood circulation and helps to reduce vaginal pain after sex. It also helps girls having this condition due to pregnancy or menstruation.

  • Take a bowl of warm water.
  • Soak a cotton cloth in it.
  • Wring out excess water from the cloth.
  • Put the cloth over your vulva.
  • Keep it on for few seconds.
  • Alternatively, fill a hot pack with warm water.
  • Roll it on your stomach and private parts.

Use this treatment when you feel the discomfort.

2. Cold Compress :

Cold compress has the properties of nerve stimulating. A cold compress an effective remedy for vaginal pain. It provides relief from soreness and itching associated with the condition.

  • Fill one compress pad with cold water.
  • Place it over the affected area.
  • Keep it on for few minutes.

Repeat this process multiple times in one day.

3. Turmeric :

Turmeric is an effective ayurvedic home remedy for vaginal pain. It will eliminate the infection and soothe irritation.

  • Take one cup of warm water.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of roasted turmeric powder in it.
  • Mix it well.
  • Rinse the vaginal opening with this solution.
  • After using the remedy clean the area with cold water.

For better result, apply this remedy 2 to 3 times daily.

4. Aloe-vera :

Aloe vera is full of anti-inflammatory properties, that helps to reduce swelling of vulva and cervix. It has a cooling effect which can heal vaginal burning and pain.

  • Take a fresh aloe vera leaf.
  • Cut it.
  • Take out its gel.
  • Take one cup of cold water.
  • Mix 1 tablespoon of aloe vera gel in it.
  • Stir it well.
  • Rinse the affected area multiple times.

Do this process 2 to 3 times in one day.

5. Honey :

Honey has anti fungal properties which help to cure yeast infection in women.

  • Take a cup of warm water.
  • Mix 2 tablespoon of honey in it.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice in it.
  • Mix it well.
  • Apply this solution to wash the opening of the vagina.
  • Keep it on for 15 minutes.
  • Rinse it off with lukewarm water.

Use this remedy daily until you get relief from it.

6. Azadirachta indica ( neem ) :

Azadirachta indica also called Neem is an anti-biotic tree. It acts as an evergreen magical treatment for many diseases. Neem is rich in vitamin C and E content and is full of medical property.

  • Take a handful of neem leaves.
  • Make a thick paste of it.
  • Take a  cup of warm water.
  • Mix 1 tablespoon of margosa leaves pastes in it.
  • Mix it well.
  • Use this solution to rinse your vaginal area.

For better result, repeat this remedy 2 times in one day.

7. Milk :

Milk increases the number of good bacteria which eliminate the infection.

  • Take a half bowl of cold raw milk.
  • Add a half bowl of cold water in it.
  • Mix it.
  • Apply this solution to rinse your affected area.
  • Keep it on for 20 minutes.
  • After that wash with plain water.

For better result, use this process daily.
