A scary new species of parasitic species that transforms their victims into suicide bombs has been found in the Amazon.
Mardrömsvadden makes the spiders to helpless drones who abandon their own colonies to make the weeping bidding – before their larvae eat they lived.
The cruel discovery – made in Ecuador – was discovered by researchers from the University of British Columbia, Canada.
They say that the beep’s behavior is a particularly “hardcore” form of hijacking, which is when one animal is manipulating another.
After leaving their homes, the spiders are made to spin a special cocoon for the spice creatures that will then hatch and eat the spider. The results were published in Ecological Entomology.
“Weapons that manipulate the spiders have been previously observed, but not at a level as complex as this,” said Philippe Fernandez-Fournier from the UBC’s zoological institution.

“Not only is this wasp aimed at the spider’s social nature, but it leaves its colony, which rarely does.”
The parasitic wasp targets a spider called anelosimus eximius, known for living in large colonies and collaborating with others to catch change and raise their young.
Researchers noticed that some spiders were infected with a parasitic larva and were seen walking away from their colonies to rotate trapped paths.
“It was very odd because they do not.” I usually do, so I started taking notes, “says Fernandez-Fournier.
That’s when the stunned researchers found that the larvae belonged to an unknown species of Zatypota wasp.
“These varieties are very elegant and graceful, says Samantha Straus, co-author of the study and doctoral student of the OBC Zoological Institution.
” But then they make the most brutal. “
A female patch first places egg on a spider’s belly that then hatches and begins to eject the spider’s bloodlike hemolytic as it grows and slowly takes over the body of its host.
Then the spider spins its colony to create a cocoon for the larva – before it is waiting to be completely extinguished by the young boy who then enters the protective cocoon and appears fully grown 10 days later.
“This behavior modification is so hardcore,” Straus said.
