Red Dead Redemption 2 is finally here. Rockstar’s new open-world western game is now available on both PS4 and Xbox One, and it presents players with a massive, deep open world to explore. The main story alone takes you close to 50 hours to complete, and it’s before you record much of the page content – and all this will be followed by Red Dead Online in November, the game’s online multiplayer component. To help you get the most out of your experience, we’ve compiled many guides and tips, thanks to both specific aspects of the game and a broader range of things you should be aware of before you begin. Rockstar has chosen not to hold the hand with many features of the game, and let it be to discover them or find them hidden in menus. We also take a look at some of these examples because you are aware of all the game has to offer.
We have many other guides and tips on the way, and we continue to update the list below with all of them. While waiting to really take the hands of the game, be sure to check out our RDR 2 review.
A potentially large aspect of the new game is cheat codes. Just like GTA V before that, RDR 2 allows you to use cheating and even has a full menu available for the feature. But in this early stage, we do not really know what everyone is; At least some are wise hidden in newspapers in the game. We do our best to chase these and report back when they are revealed – you can see those we’ve been able to confirm in our list of all Red Dead 2 cheats. If GTA V is something to go on, you can have unlimited money, raise / lower your desired level and pick up horses at any time, but there is no guarantee. Rockstars approach has not changed in the coming years. Meanwhile, we also got an overview of the best RDR2 fusks that are worth a try.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is the third game in the Red Dead series, but it is only closely linked to its immediate predecessor. However, RDR 2 is a prequel that takes place years before the events of the first RDR. If you have played the previous game, you will recognize the names and faces of many of its characters, including the RDR main character John Marston. We will check if you should play RDR first in our function, but regardless of your choice, you should give our Red Dead Redemption story an idea of updating your memory – or fill in the holes for the first time.
Tips to Know Before You Begin
As with any game, it may be good to start with some knowledge in your hand. It’s really true for RDR 2, which is a tight game full of different systems that interact with each other. With that in mind, we’ve compiled a list of important tips you should know before starting the game for the first time. We’ve kept spoilers to a minimum, but you’ll want to be aware that those page views can expire if you’re not coming to them fast enough.
How to make money fast
As a forbidden, you are after money, but not necessarily of pure greed. If your motivation is better for your gang and its members or because you simply want a new gun and horse, you will want to get your hands on as much money as possible. With that in mind, we have compiled a guide for how to earn money quickly.
Among the ways Red Dead 2 tries to immerse you in its world is with its climate. You need to consider temperatures to maximize performance and wear appropriate clothing depending on where in the world you are. We have rounded off all the clothes we have found so far to give you an idea of what you can find.
Things The Game Does not Tell You
When you play and share stories with friends, you may realize that there are some things that the game does not tell you. There are various interesting details and dots you can miss because Rockstar does not throw them in your face, so we’ve done our best to round up a number of these so you do not miss any opportunities during your adventure.
How does morality and glory work?
Among the many systems you’ll find in Red Dead 2 is glory. Arthur Morgan can be criminal no matter what choices you make, but there are degrees as he is a bad guy on. It comes into play with morale and glory, because your actions either increase or lower your glory. Pressing on the D-pillow lets you see this at any time and something that’s as simple as greeting a passenger allows you to build it up. Apart from how people react to you, it’s worth being aware of the consequences of your honor – Good Guy Arthur gets discounts in stores, which is a way to save some money.
Some page assignments may expire
If you are a power of attorney, the idea of any missed missions is just terrible. But regardless of your way of playing games like Red Dead 2, you should definitely engage with any of the optional content that involves your gang. These sequences have some of the best moments in the game, but if you go far enough in the story, some of these missions will go away if you have not done them or not. You can read more about how this works in our PSA on page issues that expire.
How do I go quickly?
There is a fast trip in RDR2, although there is nothing you do by selecting a point on your map and lap there. The means of fast moving around involve the use of actual modes of transport, such as stage coaches. Provided you are patient, you are much better off running or taking your horse, because you will encounter some of the game’s most interesting content that way. But if speed is crucial, check our explanation of how fast the trip works.
All the guns
As mentioned above, the money is highest, so you do not necessarily want to buy all the weapons you put your eyes on. You might want to plan ahead so we have rounded up all the weapons we have discovered so far to give you a sense of what to expect.
