PRINCETON, NJ (WPVI) –
A Princeton University is a chaplain tradition now forbidden.
The Tigertones have a tradition: At the end of every show of “Kiss the Girl” from “The Little Mermaid” a woman is drawn to the scene and decides whether to let a man from the audience kiss her or she refuses to allow him to “kiss the girl”.
Well, what was acceptable once in a while is not flying in the current culture.
The Tigers have now taken the song from its action after a student column that proposed the lyrics of the song, along with what may be an unwanted kiss, promoting “poisonous masculinity.”
It’s about clear consent, columnist writing and aggression.
The Tigertons president says: “We apologize to any of our previous participants and audiences whose experience of this song was unpleasant or offensive.”
