A police in Gwinnett County is shot near Snellville on Saturday afternoon, according to the department.
The officer, who was not identified, was in critical condition at Gwinnett Medical Center, police spokesman Jake Smith told a press conference.
A “few dozen” officers and policemen were looking for the area of interest, “Smith said.
The shot occurred when officers approached a suspect vehicle near Shiloh Middle School, according to Smith.
Shot was shot from the vehicle and struck an officer. Smith said he is not sure if officers returned firefighting.
The shot came after three separate officer-involved scots in Georgia on Thursday leaving two men dead.
In one of the earlier scoops, a state patrol worker shot close to I-75 South in Bartow County but survived because he was wearing a protective vest. Two soldiers returned and killed the original shooter, according to Georgia State Patrol.
The second shooting death occurred in Monroe when a man wearing a replica Thompson pointed to it on an officer, according to GBI.
At the third event, a suspect shot police in Richland but no one died.
Officer in Georgia has shot 74 civilians so far this year according to GBI. Last year there were 97 such scoops.
