Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL flagship smartphones were launched at an event held earlier this month. With high-end internals, a classic design and layer of Android, the Pixel series is considered to be the true Android flagship every year. Last year, however, the Pixel 2 series hit some hardware and software issues and this year is no different. Less than a month ago Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL launched, several issues related to audio, memory management and other software issues have emerged.
Just last week, Pixel 3 XL was reported to have an imbalance in the sound coming from the front stereo speakers, a problem that was probably “optional” or because of the difference in size on the top and bottom of the smartphone. Several YouTube smartphone reviewers have also pointed out that audio quality in video recordings on both Pixel 3 phones is poor and sounds tinny.
In a comment to the Android police on the issue, Google said: “We made several advances in the audio capability of Pixel 3, including activation of stereo recording in landscape mode. On outdoor recording, our tuning is specially designed to reduce background noise like wind- and traffic noise and loud noise and optimize for audible speech. In order to achieve this, we select selectively certain frequencies, minimizing interfering noise and optimizing the resulting sound. We make extensive user testing of our products to ensure they are set for real use and We are always looking for additional setup based on user feedback. “
Thereafter 4GB RAM on both Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL may not be enough for an Android flagship in 201
8. Memory management problems on the two phones have already begun to appear as noted by a Users on this Reddit thread. According to the post, Pixel continues to reload and close apps when only 2-3 of them are cycled. Another Reddit user claims it is difficult to play Pokemon Go that requires the activity to continue in the background for effective play. Finally, another Reddit thread has this comment – “For premium pricing, I think it is a duty to adhere to the latest standards, and 4GB is not enough anymore. I’m glad the screen is updated now, but to get it this problem again this year, it really makes me send it back. ”
Not only Reddit, international smartphone reviewers have also reported memory management issues with Pixel 3 ranges and have taken Twitter to express their complaints with the phones. The many tweets and answers give us essentially a picture that the Pixel phones aggressively kill apps, which is a bad thing for a flagship device in 2018. The error is so bad that the popular YouTube reviewer MKBHD claimed to only open the camera program while music is playing in the background , pauses and closes the music app, so you start it and play your song again.
Finally, there is another big problem with Pixel 3. Android police founder Artem Russakovskii went to Twitter last week to indicates that the pictures do not save on their Pixel 3, similar to what he noted on Pixel 2 XL last year. In response to the tweet, several other reviewers have claimed that several pictures taken on Pixel 3 XL have not been saved in the gallery. A Twitter user also notes that he has experienced this issue since the Nexus 5X days. A Reddit thread was also created last week with hundreds of comments referring to the same issues as experienced with the Google Camera app.
Google has not issued an action or statement for memory management and camera issues, but we are hopeful that it may happen soon. However, some of these problems affect an insignificant share of total purchases and are not as widespread as it seems.
