Patriots Mailbag: Can Josh Rosen be New England's future QB? | New England Patriots

It will be a cold one on Sunday, so if you come to Gillette Stadium, you make your hottest park.

Unfortunately, the latest forecasts are not called for precipitation during the New England Patriot’s divisional round playoff game against the Los Angeles Chargers, and snow games are fun. A single flake may have been the dagger for the patriots against a west coast team used to California.

Chargers have been traveling this season. They are 7-1 in away games and 9-0 outside Los Angeles County, but the patriots are undamaged at home and chargers have not yet played in freezing temperatures.

That’s why I take the patriots on Sunday. Let’s get into the week’s letter bag.

Do you see BB trading for Rosen if Kingsbury decides to cast Murray?

1; @daltonringey
It’s amazing that almost a year later we talk about Josh Rosen.

I think everyone can actually take Kliff Kingsbury comments about wanting to draft Kyler Murray No. 1 overall a little too serious. First of all, Kingsbury is not the General Manager. It’s Steve Keim’s job. Secondly, Kingsbury was basically just heaping praise on Murray at that time. I’m not sure if we should take his comments literally.

But if the cardinals throw out Murray No. 1 overall, and they are open to shopping the Rosen, then yes, of course, the patriots should find out his availability. Rosen had a tough season with Cardinals, but if he came to New England and had a year or more to work under Tom Brady, it could be another story the next time he got into the center of an NFL game. I wouldn’t pay too much – throw them a first round and see what the rose can do.

The Patriots showed interest in the Rosen before 2018 NFL Draft.

It is worth noting that the patriots already have one of the Rosen’s favorite targets under contract in the former UCLA broad recipient Darren Andrews, who has spent the 2018 season on the list without soccer injury. He demolished his ACL halfway through his high season 2017.

@DougKyed #MailDoug I think @Patriots will have to make more than 24 points to win this game. Where / who do you see the offensive production coming from? #GoPats
– @KenMcCartney
I think this will be a great James White game. I think he’s coming back to being heavily exploited now that the Patriots are in the back season. I could also see that one of Chris Hogan or Phillip Dorsett had a great game. The strength of Laddare secondary is in the middle with Desmond King and Derwin James. I think the patriots can take advantage of the cornerbacks Michael Davis and Casey Hayward. I also think the patriots can attack the deep part of the field when Jahleel Addae and Rayshawn Jenkins are back there.

Julian Edelman will get his goals, but he has a tough matchup against the king. I’m not sure how effective Rob Gronkowski will be in this game if he often draws James. He could definitely beat Chargers linebackers when they are in the field. Linebackers Kyle Emanuel and Hayes Pullard are the weak spots in the otherwise balanced defense of the chargers.

Do you think the Patriots match Gilmore 1 on 1 with Keenan? Or does Gilmore take shadow Mike Williams and either Jackson or Jason McCourty Keenan with security assistance?
– @Patriots_Andrew
If I’m the Patriots, I’ll put Stephon Gilmore on Keenan Allen. Gilmore’s best performance this season has been on big early recipients.

He seems almost self-evident when he covers less passers or when he does not shadow a particular recipient. He released touchdowns to Donte Moncrief, Kenny Golladay, Marvin Jones, Corey Davis, and Brice Butler this season, while not scoring points like guys like Andrew Hopkins, Allen Robinson, Davante Adams, Stefon Diggs and Antonio Brown.

At least I would start Gilmore at Allen, and if you have to adjust halfway through the game, do it.

I’m not sure if it matters how you cover Mike Williams and Tyrell Williams with JC Jackson and Jason McCourty. I can add Jackson to Mike Williams because he’s more of a scoring hot and rookie cornerback doesn’t allow a touchdown all season. It leaves McCourty at Tyrell Williams, who has slightly lower up than Mike.

Let’s fire fast.

@DougKyed #maildoug. You drink 2 five hours of energy. Do you get 5 hours of super energy or 10 hours of regularly increased energy levels?
– @oko
Five super hours and possibly a heart attack.

If the patriots were to update their uniforms, would they go back to red with Pat Patriot as the logo, or do something completely new? #maildoug
– @CB_ReadinTweets
I think they would update the red Pat Patot uniforms. Picture the patriots’ current colorful sweaters but make them red.

I have asked this before and you have answered. Though! With the latest news about Murray getting into the draft, how high should the patriots draw Zion? I would say try to get him at 32. That way, here’s still the 5th year option. #MailDoug
– @Castles_Burning
Not authorized yet. He also plays basketball.

#MailDoug Simple question: @ RobParkerFS1 or @ShannonSharpe?
– @rafalzochowski
Shannon Sharpe, I guess.

Do you think Stephen Anderson is on the field of offensive snaps on Sunday? Can he have an impact? #MailDoug
– @ SenecaDavid1
It’s a really good question. I think he can be active. If the patriots did not really want to write the two additional players to their training group, then there is no other reason why they would have put Anderson to their 53-man list and placed Jacob Hollister on a damaged reserve.

@DougKyed How many players can a team sign for future contracts? #MailDoug
– @Proudred_devil
Unlimited as long as they are below the 90’s border limit for the offseason.

Does Danny Etling (sp?) Have any potential to be a starter?
– @ JimCos1
I think he has the potential to be a backup. I have to see more of him to explain him a future start in the NFL.

Do you see someone in the training group panel activated during the playoffs?
– @RommelRoo
No, I think the team is pretty much for now after you’ve added Anderson.

@DougKyed do you think if the pats lose a playoff game or super bowl this year that McDaniels will take over for BB
– @kevindotbox
I think there would be a higher probability of what happens if the patriots won the Super Bowl.

Better Patriot free agent fit, Adam Humphries or Devin Funchess?
– @trent_abshirexx

@DougKyed Hunter Henry or Stephen Anderson? Who do you think will play a bigger role in the game? #MailDoug
– @ r_lopes12

Do you like emotrap?
– @themindbottler
No, but my friend Mike Magann does.

Are you thinking of Chad O & # 39; Shea leaving the patriots for an OC job elsewhere? #MailDoug
– @JeffWIIM
Hmm, that’s not a bad question. Maybe if one team is willing to wait to fill that role until the patriots are out of the playoffs.

Like Claude Julien, is it fair to suggest that Belichick has also lost a step and is in contact with the speed and athletics you see around the league? Football intelligence is no longer enough. #MailDoug
Oh boy. Okay guys. It has been fun. Catch you next week.
