GREEN BAY – neither Packers nor Cardinals threatened to score in the first quarter on Sunday at Lambeau Field.
Packers, Cardinals scoreless after one
The packers got the ball first and converted their first two thirds on a scramble by QB Aaron Rodgers and a 10-yard pass to TE Jimmy Graham. But at third and ten in the middle field, RB Aaron Jones did not matter, and the tip went into the end zone for a touchback.
The cardinals received a 13-year race from RB David Johnson to start and convert on third and nine with a 10-yards lap to WR Ricky Seals-Jones. But a pass-through of CB Tramon Williams on the first level helped lead to a point, and Packers went back to crime.
From own 8, due to punishment on special team, Packers went three-and-one. Rookie WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling released a pass first down that would have got Packers out of the hole. P JK Scott’s point was fought on Arizona 46.
A 9-yards pass to WR Christian Kirk picked up third and 7 for Cardinals, but on the next third, Packers S Josh Jones reached QB Josh Rosen on QB Josh Rosen on a delayed flash and Arizona Pointed.
Aaron Jones ran three straight times for 21
laps as the first quarter expired.
