Notre Dame quarterback Ian Book will miss Saturday’s match against Florida State due to a rib injury, according to several reports.
Coach Brian Kelly is expected to give an update during his Thursday afternoon conference.
Irish Illustrated and The Athletic both reported that this book was affected by the injury last week’s 31-21 victory in Northwestern.
The book replaced Brandon Wimbush as a star in week 4 at Wake Forest and Notre Dame’s offensive has flourished. He has completed 74.5 percent of his 1,824 meter pass with 15 touchdowns and four interceptions.
Wimbush has completed 55.3 percent for 589 meters with a touchdown and four interceptions in four matches (three starts). He has also rushed for 1
44 meters and a touchdown. Wimbush started 12 of Notre Dame’s 13 matches last season.
Kelly addressed Wimbush’s role during his Tuesday conference.
“He’s been good,” said Kelly. “He has been doing well. He has been a good team mate in Ian Book, quite frankly. He has been as supportive as any player on our team that I have ever practiced. He has been there for him in the locker room in half-time. sit down with him and talk him through what happens is what we need to do, brandon wimbush.
“he has to keep ready. Who knows what’s happening, right? Every week we remind him. He knows he’s one step away from going back out on the field. He has practiced really well. It’s the biggest, more than anything else, it’s easy to lose your edge when you do not start. He has fought it. So he has just been a good teammate and he has kept ready. “
