Mother’s doctor Joel Fleischman would return to Alaska in a continuation of the 1990 series, which has been discussed for almost two years.
CBS is developing a reboot of its 1990 dramatic Northern Exposure with star star Rob Morrow and creators Joshua Brand and John Falsey attached.
The project would be a continuation of the show, which originally ran from 1990 to 1995 and won seven Emmys, including one for best drama series. It should have Morrow’s Dr. Joel Fleischman, returning to Cicely, Alaska, for the funeral of an old friend and reunited with some of his former neighbors and meets a new set of strange characters.
The mark writes the script and will produce executive products with Falsey, Morrow and Ben Silverman.
Universal Television, which produced the original series, is also behind reboot floating around for a couple of years. Darren E. Burrows, who played Ed Chigliak on the series, has tried to crowdfund new episodes. At a meeting at the 201
7 ATX Festival, Brand said that Morrow had worked to revive the series.
“It sounds like we all want it to happen,” said Castmember Cynthia Geary (Shelly Tambo) at the time. The Northern Northern Expposure resurgence joins a variety of other reboot / resuscitation projects in the development of the TV landscape, from Designing Women to Buffy the Vampire Slayer to The Hills . It’s in addition to the myriad reboots that already air, including the CBS & # 39; 90s stack Murphy Brown, NBC’s Will & Grace and Netflix One Day at a Time others.
Northern Exposure s cast also included Barry Corbin, Janine Turner, John Cullum, Elaine Miles and Senegal Peg Phillips. Mother had a reduced role in the show’s last season and left eight episodes to go on track. Paul Provenza and Teri Polo joined the show as Cicelys new doctor, Phil Capra, and his wife Michelle, who worked for the city’s newspaper.
