We are still waiting for a qualitative jump in the low range that seems not to arrive, however, today we have presented the new Motorola Moto E5 and Moto E5 Plus, and our desires seem to be materializing little by little.
And is that this renewal of possibly the low-end family in better shape in the history of Android, has shown that the rest of manufacturers Maybe they do not try everything they should on their low-end smartphones. Let’s see what the Moto E5 and Moto E5 Plus bring again!
It is striking that Moto has strongly bet to try to bring to the low range a frameless design with an aspect ratio of 18: 9, thus making, from now on, all its terminals adapt to what the market is demanding right now in all price ranges. This is called doing homework well.
Both the Moto E5 and the Moto E5 Plus follow the same design lines, who bear a lot of resemblance to their cousins, the Moto G6 recently presented, Obviously, saving the price difference between both families.
The design of the low range makes a jump with the arrival of the new Moto E5 and Moto E5 Plus
As you can see, it is a design with some plastic finishes -but which has a certain aesthetic resemblance to glass- and metal on the sides. In the front we will find the screen, the sensors, the camera, the front speaker and an LED flash, while in the back we will be able to see the fingerprint reader under the Moto logo.
Regarding the camera, in Moto terminals, as usual, we find a quite different arrangement, located on a small mound, which will protrude a bit from the rest of the terminal’s body. It should be noted that both smartphones, despite being low-end, have USB Type C, learn, Xiaomi.
Let’s make things clear, these are two low-end smartphones, and as such, we should not expect a Snapdragon 660 with 4 GB of RAM, but, the truth is that In spite of that, the specifications of both terminals do not leave much to be desired.
But we go by parts, the Moto E5, first, it’s a terminal 5.7 inches at HD + resolution that has an aspect ratio of 18: 9. That is, it is higher and narrower than usual, allowing us to see more elements on the screen.
The Moto E5 5 Plus, meanwhile, is a bit larger, as it has a panel of 5.99 inches, but maintains the resolution in HD +, one of the weakest parts of the terminal, but we understand due to its price.
Both have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor – in line with what was expected for this type of terminal – accompanied by neither more nor less than 2 GB of RAM, an amount that right now is beginning to be a bit short to the low range.

The cameras of our mobiles are becoming increasingly important, both for us users and manufacturers, and these Moto E5 are the clear example of this, since, despite being low-end terminals, It seems that they are serious about the subject of photography.
The Moto E5 has a unique 13 megapixel rear camera with a focal aperture f / 2.0, while the front camera stays at a modest 5 megapixels, just like it happens in the larger model.
While, his older brother, the Moto E5 Plus opts for a double camera composed of a 16 megapixel sensor with a focal aperture of f / 1,75 and another 8 megapixel sensor with f / 2.0 focal that will serve to make a portrait mode that, coming from Motorola, we expect a lot.
The new Moto E5 and Moto E5 Plus will have an initial price according to their range -although perhaps a bit high-:
Both will be available in Spain from the first week of next May, so if you are thinking about acquiring a low-end terminal, you know how long you have to wait. What do you think?
