The Honor 10 is now official, and it’s just what we expected. The Huawei subsidiary just presented in China its new flagship for the first half of 2018, destined to compete with the best of the market based on an updated design adapted to the times, a technical section of category, and a photographic system that relies on artificial intelligence .
And yes, before you think about it, I already tell you: Honor 10 looks a lot like the Huawei P20 that we met not too many weeks ago, and is that the latest Honor is based on the current Huawei star device, and it is not surprising that we find shared details between both terminals. Without more, we went to see all the details of the new Honor 10, a top of the range from China that wants to make it difficult to the conventional high range.
At the design level, the Honor 10 bears a strong resemblance to the Huawei P20. Both models use glass and aluminum as manufacturing materials, although Honor’s new phone hides some differential detail, and lacks features such as water resistance.
The first, and probably the most interesting, is the existence of a fingerprint reader under the glass of the screen. Although the surface of the sensor is located at the same point as in the case of the Huawei P20, the reader itself is located under the glass, thus avoiding the existence of a protuberance dedicated to this button.
The similarities between the Honor 10 and the Huawei P20 in terms of design are more than evident: the shiny glass is repeated in the back, and the front with notch and fingerprint reader.
One of the
The front part houses a large 5.84-inch panel , which uses LTPS technology and, in a nutshell, is the same screen that we can find in the Huawei P20 Lite. This means that its resolution is Full HD +, with 2,240 x 1,080 pixels, and an 18.5: 9 format. Honor ensures that the panel is capable of exceeding 500 nits of brightness.
In the same way as their older brothers, the Honor 10 is based on the platform Kirin 970, eight-core and a maximum frequency of 2.4 GHz. Next to it, we find a dedicated processing unit, responsible for carrying out the tasks of high computational load as the AI modes integrated in the camera.
Supporting the processor we find 4 or 6 GB of RAM and 64 or 128 GB of non-expandable storage . As for battery, 3,400 mAh will be responsible for giving the necessary energy to the device to run Android in its 8.1 edition, customized by EMUI 8.1.
At a photographic level, Honor 10 maintains the rear photographic system consisting of two sensors that we already found in the previous generation. However, the brand bets on this occasion for artificial intelligence, baptizing the system as AI Cam.
Specifically, we find two sensors of 16 and 24 megapixels, each with aperture f / 1.8 . They are equipped with systems based on machine learning intended, among other things, to stabilize catches and videos due to the lack of an optical stabilizer, as well as the recognition of scenes and objects to modify the parameters automatically and capture the perfect picture.
Although this time we do not find the signature of the prestigious company Leica, Honor does not neglect the photographic section and relies on artificial intelligence .
Honor, in addition, bet on a system of “Segmentation of semantic image”, thanks to which the different objects and areas of the captured image are optimized individually, thus achieving a better overall quality.
On the front, a single 24 megapixel sensor will take care of the selfies , with an excellent quality if we take into account what we have already seen in the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro. Again we find different systems based on AI, although there is no sign of an LED flash to accompany our nocturnal self-portraits.
And without leaving the multimedia section, many will be happy to know that Honor has not neglected the audio section of its latest star phone . Not only will we not miss the 3.5mm headphone port, but we will also enjoy a dedicated AK4376A audio chip.
