Bucks: Head coach Mike Budenholzer led Bucks through a remarkable regular season campaign in his first season with the team and Milwaukee had the best record in the NBA. Neither did it hurt that Giannis Antetokounmpo had another MVP caliber season and did not even have to do much during their first round. Bucks will certainly face a much tougher challenge this time when facing Celtics.
Celtics: Meanwhile, Celtics was expected to be one of the best teams in the NBA this season. But Boston struggled to find consistency for most of the year, but really excelled in its initial round series. Kyrie Irving was sensational despite the fact that the team did not have Marcus Smart when he deals with a bad injury. It will be interesting to see if the team continues to thrive at both ends of the floor as they did to Indiana.
1. Slowing down Antetokounmpo: This is definitely easier said than done. Antocountry has proved to be an unfair match for the majority of the league, so it’s no wonder he is one of the top players for the MVP prize. It’s worth keeping track of what kind of defensive missions the head coach Brad Stevens is hiding, but veteran forward Marcus Morris may be tasked with guarding Antetokounmpo quite often considering its physical nature.
2. Benches: Depth is something that both teams have probably had throughout the season. On the Boston side, Gordon Hayward signed the team two years ago to be one of the best offensive options, but came from the bench for the majority of the 2018-19 season. Hayward scored an average of 12.3 points and finished in double digits in three of the four games against the Pacers, including a 20-point series-clinching win. Milwaukee is also as deep with stellar veteran forward as Nikola Mirotic and Ersan Ilyasova come from the bench and give strong perimeter.
3. Three point shooter: In the late season, Celtics shoots 39.8 percent from beyond the arc, which is good for fourth among the playoff teams. The bucks are just behind Celtics in fifth place with a 37.0 percent shooting shot from three. These are the two best shooters in Eastern Conference postseason squads, so three-point shooting can ultimately be the difference in this series. That’s one of the reasons why Milwaukee went out and acted for Mirotic at the deadline and he could be a big x factor in this series.
Bucks in six: The Bucks absolutely crossed the pistons and did not meet a ton of resistance throughout the series. It is safe to say that it will be a bit more competitive when they take on Celtics. After all, Celtics was chosen by many to be one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference before the season.
This can definitely be a series that runs six or seven games because of the depth of both sides. Bucks have just too much firepower to not escape the victory and the team can also get Malcolm Brogdon back sometime in the series.
