NASA joins US defense giant Lockheed Martin to build a state-of-the-art test plan that can pave the way for the return of supersonic passengers.
It hopes that the X-59 will be able to reach incredible speeds without creating the dying sonic boom that will always break the sound barrier.

Lockheed Martin said the flight “marks a milestone to bring supersonic commercial voyage across land one step closer to reality.”

] “Production start on the project marks a big step forward for X-59 and the future of quiet supersonic commercial travel,” said Peter Iosifidis from Lockheed.
& # 39; The aircraft’s long narrow design is the key to achieving a low sonic boom.  “As we enter the manufacturing phase, the aircraft structure begins to take shape, giving us a step closer to enabling supersonic travel for passengers around the world.”
NASA selected Lockheed Martin to design the Low Boom Flight Demonstrator – which could in turn pave the way for a larger commercial aircraft.
Aviation experts working on the project hope that X-59 will perform its maiden in 2021 when it will be used to collect data on quieter supersonic travel.
It hopes it will help NASA to establish an acceptable commercial supersonic audio standard to violate current rules prohibiting supersonic travel across land.

When it breaks the audio barrier, it hopes that it will create a sound about the same as a car door lock (75 perceived level decibels ).
The first flight of the X-59, which spiral d a day flies from London to New York in just three hours without giving off a loud sonic boom, is scheduled for 2021.
The ship can become the first commercial supersonic airplane to carry passengers since the iconic French-French jet engine Concorde was discontinued 15 years ago.
