FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA) – The United States is seeing a mild flu season so far this year.
According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, influenza activity was minimal over 49 states, District of Columbia and New York City last week.
CDC’s Friday report included a death sentence – as the Florida Department of Health confirms.
For older people, CDC combines calculations for deaths based on pneumonia and flu.
The agency reports that 5.6 percent of the deaths in the first week of October was due to pneumonia and flu. It is below the normal value for this time of year.
The total number of laboratory confirmed influenza cases for the season stands at 447.
Of course, people with flu do not see a doctor.
Physician visits to flu-like disease are also below normal.
