Vice President Mike Pence wrote on Friday a tweet showing that he poses with a Florida police who had a mark associated with the QAnon conspiracy theory.
The picture showed that Pence greeted SWAT team members from the Broward County Sheriff office at an airport there on Friday.
“Thank you for the courageous members of law enforcement agencies who helped me with my visit to Florida this afternoon,” Pence captioned the deleted tweet.
The officer in the photo stands directly to Pence had a patch embossed with the letter “Q”, an obvious reference to “QAnon”, a collection of right-wing plot theories that got online traction.
After the image got traction online, the Vice President’s account was deleted tweet.
A spokesman for the Broward County Sheriff Office announced the Miami New Times in a statement: “The patch is not approved by the BSO. This issue will be dealt with immediately.”
Followers of QAnon spread conspiracy theories, including the fact that a deep state plot is working to undermine President Trump.
The anonymous person who started the thread goes through the pseudonym “Q” while his supporters consider themselves “the anonies”.
