Microsoft's Edge moves to Chrom because Google continues to break its stuff

MICROSOFT’S BIG hairy, smart planning to move its “meh” browser. The edge of Google’s open source. Chrome engine was partly Google’s fault.

It is alleged by an earlier Microsoft internal who states that EdgeHTML maintenance became impossible because Google continued breaking compatibility in Chrome, which led to Edge Devs trying to paste its own software.

“JoshuaJB” published on Hacker News : “I recently worked on the Edge team and one of the reasons we decided to quit EdgeHTML was that Google continued to change their sites that broke others browsers, and we could not continue. For example, they recently added a hidden tom div over YouTube videos that make our hardware acceleration fast to the castle (should now be solved in Win1

0 Oct update). ”

He continues to Explain that without the indirect disturbance, he thought that Edge’s “relatively state-of-the-art” hardware acceleration gave better battery life to Chrome, and it was only after they broke / fixed Edge’s failure to work.

He adds: “What’s so sad is that their alleged dominance is not due to brilliant Chrome optimization, but due to a failure on YouTube. Overall, they only made the web slower.”

” JoshuaJB “says he does not think that what was happening to YouTube was a deliberate attempt to steal the progress in Edge, but some in Microsoft think it’s exactly what it was, especially when Google did reverse changes that worsened Edge performance.

Microsoft confirmed last month that it moved future versions of Edge to the open source engine. EdgeHTML was retained only for older Universal Windows Apps (UWP) and other compatibility usage cases.

The reaction to the news has been mixed, with some decline for the continued move towards a common standard, while others question the wisdom of having only three major web engines left – Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox and Chromium powers Chrome, Opera, Vivaldi and of course Edge .

On the plus side, it seems to have calmed down the browser warriors with their annoying self-service popup windows, at least for the moment. μ
