But this ignores the fact that the last democrat to win the White House, former President Barack Obama, appealed to exactly the opposite instincts among voters than Trump, or even Avenatti seems to be.
Avenattis apparent belief that he is the only person who is trumpy to beat Trump assumes that America wants more of Trump’s personal qualities in our national policy. However, almost all the choices currently available suggest that this is not what the electorate wants.
This does not say that Avenatti is not popular with the Democrats. In summer and autumn he was a hit on the democratic event circle where he helped raise money for various local party groups.
“Everywhere I go, people are so enthusiastic,” said Avenatti to CNBC.
“I was in South Carolina recently, and I was in Massachusetts and New Hampshire a few days ago, and the crowds were just incredible,” he said. “The only people who seem to doubt this are people in the Beltway.”

That takes us to the third serious mistake Avenatti has made: His failure to build a base of support within the Democratic Party and his refusal so far to be a team player.
Ever since he catapulted into the country’s headlight spring this year, Avenatti has gobbled up the airwaves and headlines, while largely ignoring his other high-profile Democrats.
This was clear lately when Avenatti brought in the Kavanaugh Confirmation Challenges with Swetnick, whose claims against the referee were much more serious than those of two other women who accused Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct. But news organizations could not find any links between Swetnick and Kavanaugh, or anyone who could confirm Swetnick’s account of the parties.
Republicans seized Swetnick’s explosive assertions and on Avenado’s praise to portray all three allegations against Kavanaugh as part of a liberal political conspiracy.
Democrats also criticized him. Sen Gary Peters, D-Mich., Told CNN at the time Avenida’s participation in the Kavanaugh hearings, “turned into a circus atmosphere, and that’s certainly not what we should be”. Private Senate Democrats had much harder words for Avenatti.
Now that Kavanaugh has been confirmed, it is the last thing many Democrats in Washington want to do to look at the burgeoning raw debate about Kavanaugh’s nomination and the standing political defeat they have suffered.
But not Avenatti. On Thursday he said he looks forward to showing it to Grassley. “I look forward to the Grassley investigation. I hope we can get it done as soon as possible,” he said.
Avenatti sees Grassley’s actions as politically motivated and designed to lead his potential presidential campaign against Trump 2020 “These people come after me because they are worried. They are afraid,” he said.
