In a live streaming from MechCon 2018 in Vancouver, Piranha Games today announced a brand new gameplay and announced the release date for MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries.
The game was played in four-player co-op under the leadership of Piranha Games President Russ Bullock himself at the control of a powerful Thunderbolt.
We’ll see lots of really amazing mech simulation measures against ground forces, aviation vehicles and other mechs. There is also full-blown destruction, with mechs literally breaking into buildings and tearing them down. Interestingly, we also see the possibility of repairing and rebuilding in a particular location on the field, which seems to be very useful on a long-term mission with goals that continue to be updated.
The game looks really amazing, definitely worth the legacy
If you do not know the MechWarrior franchise, it was debuted in 1
989 and became quite obscure in 2002 after the release of MechWarrior 4 : Mercenaries. Its name maker is the MechWarrior tabletop RPG, which belongs to FASA’s brilliant BattleTech IP. This name is likely to become more familiar among relative beginners since Harebrained Schemes recently released its Battletech turn-based strategy game. MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries are in the same world, but as you’ve seen in the video, you place yourself directly in a simulated mech.
Last but not least, we can see the cover art (which you can see below), and the release date was announced. It’s September 10, 2019.
