Mazda MX-5 Drop-Head Coupe Concept, Mazda 3, CX-5 and CX-8 Custom Style for Tokyo Auto Salon 2019

2019 Tokyo Auto Salon is just around the corner and Mazda is the first car manufacturer to show its goods before the aftermarket exhibition from 11 to 13 January. Hiroshima shows the new Mazda 3 for the first time in Japan, where it will assume the same name as in other markets, killing Axela moniker. But the highlight of the event must be the MX-5 Drop-Head Coupé Concept, which will have a carbon fiber detachable hardtop (not to be confused with MX-5 RF's folding targa peak). Mazda has not yet produced such a hardtop for ND MX-5 (or Roadster as it's called in Japan) as it did in the last three generations, so maybe this is a true production version that owners can go and buy. Other accessories mounted on the Drop-Head cabinets include body, rear and rear towing hooks and 1 6-inch forged aluminum wheels, while the interior features Recaro benches and aluminum pads. With regard to performance upgrades, the Drop-Head Coupé offers a lightweight flywheel, a performance air filter, limited towing differential, upward coupling and reinforced bushings. Mazda also displays Custom Style versions of the new Mazda 3, CX -5 and CX-8. The former is equipped with a single aero package that is likely to be offered in the accessory catalog, plus 18-inch BBS forged alloys, sports pedals and door shields. In the case of CX-5, you get a bodykit with what appears to be body-colored inserts, along with aluminum pedals, illuminated scuff plates and "deodorizing" luxury floor…
