A long block of S. Raymond Ave. evacuated on Monday night after the Pasadena police were aware of a suspicious device discovered during a truck parked on the street.

Evacuations include the KPCC / LAist headquarters, where the staff left the building at the request of the police. Regular radio programming was interrupted as a result of evacuation.

John E Perez, police chief, said that the first call came to his office just before noon. 1

8:00

Perez said the device on the vehicle “resembles it could be a blast so we have experts there and look at it to see how to take the next step.”

Shortly after 21:00 the authorities have detonated the device safely.

“The chances are there was no device because we did not hear a high explosion,” said Perez.

However, he said that the authorities felt it had become intentional to look true. His message to the one who did it: “We will catch you and you pay the price to really create this kind of device and the fear of society.”
