Kingdom Hearts 3 Final Battle Trailer confirms the second playable character

Under the Kingdom Hearts 3 Final Battle trailer, visible above, Riku plays the game as a player-driven character (around the 1 : 6 mark). This is not the first time Soras childhood friend has been played in the series – especially Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, originally released for GBA and then made for PS2, included a story with a playable Riku. Nomura previously spoke with IGN in 2017 about the possibility that KH3 has another playable character. The Final Battle trailer is also packed with a brand new look at KH3, including worlds we've seen before, such as Forzen Arendelle and Big Hero 6s San Fransokyo, as well as new locations clearly linked to the Lore series. The other half of the trailer goes all-in on that lore and retains many sequences and characters that seem to tie up the many different, yet connected strings in the Kingdom Hearts franchise. Apart from Sora, who should other players control?

Since Tetsuya Nomura suggested the opportunity years ago, fans have wondered if Kingdom Hearts 3 will have a different playable character in addition to Sora. Now the trainer’s latest trailer has confirmed that is the case and who this other character is.

While this new official watching the game is exciting for fans, unfortunately played copies of the game have led to spoiler-filled videos and posts online. Nomura treated the leak in a statement and urged the fans to be vigilant about potential spoilers, while acknowledging that some parts of the game have not yet been included. Kingdom Hearts 3 completed its development in November.
