A section of the landfill in a quarter of a hectare is turned off by law enforcement. Woodland Park police, who will lead the search, expect the evidence to be buried about 15 feet down, the source said.
It is not certain which specific evidence they expect to find. It is also unclear why the search is not carried out until Tuesday.
Berreth, 29, disappeared November 22 near Woodland Park, a city between Denver and Colorado Springs. Her body has not been found.
Patrick Frazee, Berretths engaged and their 1-year-old daughter was born in December with murder. Earlier this week he was guilty of manipulation with body and other crimes.
A woman who was involved in Frazee told investigators that he said he planned to put the remains either in a river or in a landfill, the authorities said. 19659006] Colorado Bureau of Investigations Agent Gregg Slater told Tuesday that Idaho nurse Krystal Lee Kenney told investigators that Frazee killed Berreth with a baseball bat and later burned her body in a water trough.
She told researchers that she had an intimate relationship with the defendant in early 2018.
Kenney pleaded guilty to proving manipulation on February 8.
Berreth and Frazee’s daughter are now in custody of Berreth’s parents, Cheryl-Lee and Darrell Lynn Berreth.
They believe that a custody conflict was likely to be a “motive to kill Kelsey”, according to a wrongful death procedure that they filed.
