A judge in Los Angeles on Thursday ordered landlord Robert Durst to face the trial of his friend Susan Berman in 2000 [1
9659007] Durst, 75, has refused to kill Berman, found dead in her home in the Benedict Canyon area of Los Angeles on Christmas Eve 2000 with a single shotwind on the back of her head. Prosecutors believe she was killed one day earlier.
Prosecutors claim Durst was worried that Berman would imply him by the death of his first wife, Kathie, who disappeared in 1982. Her body has never been found and Durst has never been debuted in her disappearance.
The Los Angeles County Judge, Mark E. Wennham, issued his decision after a two-week trial, where he heard testimonies from two friends by Kathie Durst, two former New York Post reporters who interviewed Durst after his wife left and interviewed by “Jinx” filmmakers Andrew Jarecki and Marc Smerling, as well as evidence from prosecutors and police.
Durst arrested in New Orleans 2015 on a murder order in connection with the investigation of Berman’s death
Durst is accused of a number of murders and has not been guilty.
If he is convicted, he faces a possible maximum living in prison without the opportunity of parole, Los Angeles Dick DeGuerin, Attorney Dick DeGuerin, said in a phone call Thursday night that the court was not a surprise and that Durst retains its virginity.
“Bob Durst did not kill Susan Berman and he does not know who did,” said DeGuerin. “She was his best friend.”
“This was a case that was generated by a television series,” says DeGuerin. Durst famously dubbed 2003 for 2001-the killing of neighbor Morris Black, whose body was found dismembered in a galveston in Texas bay.
Durst was released by a jury, even though he admitted he shot the victim’s body, gently tripping the body parts into plastic and throwing them in Galveston Bay. Durst and his lawyers claimed that death was in self-defense and that Durst disposed of his body because he was worried that the police would rail him suspiciously when it came to Berman’s death and his disappearance.
In the final of a HBO documentary, “The Jinx: Durst’s Life and Deaths” Durst does not seem to recognize Berman’s death without at least two others.
A microphone he wore while interviewed was alive while he went to the toilet. It spelled him whispers to himself: “What a disaster… I have a problem with the question. What the hell did i do?” The death was killed. “
Thursday’s decision comes after a prosecutor’s request that Durst use” adversity ” Durst as proof of whether Durst is going to be a trial. They wanted to use comments Durst made to the director of the 2010 movie “All Good Things”, inspired by the story of Durst’s wife’s disappearance.
Commenting on the movie’s DVD, when Durst “asked the camera about his feelings about a movie that claimed to have murdered three people and a dog, he responded, not with denials, but by saying,” I felt the movie was very very close to the path of what happened quite a lot, “Los Angeles County Attorney John Lewin wrote in a court application this week.
That comment would result in the production of the sixth series “The Jinx” being accused. DeGuerin called “All Good Things” a fiction and said Durst liked the movie, partly because the e-character based on him was played by Ryan Gosling.
Duration is held without bail at the Twin Towers Prison in Los Angeles, according to prisons.
