The documents obtained by CNN were submitted on Thursday by the Singlet’s mother, Shelia Ward. They say Singleton is “currently in a coma and cannot support their personal needs” or “manage their financial resources”.
A representative of Singleton did not immediately return CNN’s comment request.
Singleton’s family had previously confirmed that he had a stroke on April 17, but did not work on his condition.
The court filing at the time of Singleton was “engaged in several business projects” and was about to sign “a lucrative agreement”.
, who was the first black filmmaker nominated for the Oscar Award, is known for films such as “Boyz n Hood” and “Poetic Justice.”
A show he created for the FX network, “Snowfall”, was renewed last year for a third season.
Singleton’s comrades and colleagues have expressed their love.
