His big toe is about the height of a basketball bow.
You have to climb 182 meters or 597 feet up in the sky to reach the top of the Statue of Unity, the tallest statue of the world and a tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, an independent leader of India that was decisive for uniting a broken country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on Wednesday – Patel’s birthday, known as the National Unity Day – to reveal the mammoth statue that overlooks green hills and the Narmad River in the western state of Gujarat.
For perspective: It is almost twice as high as the Statue of Liberty, which includes the pedestal reaching 305 meters. Without her pedestal it would take more than five Lady Libertys standing upside down to reach the statue’s head (or four if you count the tip of the torch).
