Hyundai Motor America will reveal its new flagship SUV on Los Angles auto show later this month.

The car manufacturer revealed the name Thursday. The 8-passenger SUV will be called
Hyundai Palisade. The 2020 model will offer a “calming” level of high-tech intelligent safety features, according to Hyundai.

The new SUV name refers to a series of coastal areas
cliffs and can of course be associated by many with Pacific Palisades, a prosperous and beautiful neighborhood in southern California.
The new moniker has been in work for some
time, says Ian Beavis, CEO of AMCI Global.

“It’s their version of Kia Telluride,” says Beavis Marketing Daily . “Both companies wanted it
ambitious American names that conveyed sophistication and outdoor in different ways. I think they succeeded. “

The future Palisade SUV will” convey a bold exterior like commands
attention and having a strong inherent picture of safety and security, especially important with parents with growing families and active lifestyles, “according to the automaker. Palisad styling
will offer “dignity in style in a discreet theme that clearly demonstrates the differentiation of a flagship SUV.”

Global media will see the palisade for the first time

Automaker continues an aggressive portfolio of makeover that spans the last 12 months, with 10
brand new or improved models. The Hyundai fleet has been completely updated to 2019. The portfolio makeover includes the brand new Kona compact crossover; Three new environmentally friendly alternatives with
Female EV and NEXO Fuel Cell Vehicles join the updated Sonata Hybrid / PHEV; and a new look for all Hyundai volume leaders: Sonata, Elantra, Tucson and Santa Fe. Additional models will
added early in the calendar year.

The last time Hyundai offered a three-row crossover SUV was Veracruz, which was on sale from 2007 to 2012.

Hyundai did not know it
reviving Veracruz was right for this new model, Michael Brien, Hyundai Motor America’s Product Manager, Corporate and Digital Planning, told CNET’s Roadshow. Instead, the name
“Palisade” also belongs to the “fortress strength”.
